The Annapurna Base Camp trekking circuit is one of the most famous and breathtaking trekking routes in the world! This incredible 10 day trek will take us through all types of jaw-dropping environmental zones, as well as allowing for cultural exchanges while trekking through tiny mountain villages, and of course, immerse us in raw adventure. It will deliver us to our goal of Annapurna Base Camp amidst the entire Annapurna Himalayan range, covered in snow, standing strong, beautiful, and so close you can touch them. The feeling of being here on top of the world and accomplishing your goal of the challenging trekking journey there, will leave you speechless. This trek is rich with hidden treasures of Nepalese spiritual culture and tradition, and vistas of the spectacular Himalayan range. The trek will pass through the area of the world famous Gorkha warrior clan, the Gurung, charming Magar villages, dense rhododendron forests (Nepal's national flower), Oak forests full of birds, green hills and patchwork valleys, terraced fields, millions of waterfalls, smiling, warm, welcoming Nepali faces, and rugged mountainous terrain near snow-capped peaks and under crystal blue skies. Just about every angle is a tantalizing glimpse of Mt. Machhapuchhre, or Fishtail (22,942 ft./6,992 m.), Annapurna (26,545 ft./8090 m.) and Dhaulagiri (26,794 ft./8,116 m.) range.

A Detailed Itinerary of Our Adventures
Day 1/October 24 | Arrivals into Kathmandu (KTM)
Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our driver will greet you at the airport and will transfer you to our team hotel in Kathmandu. Time to rest and acclimate, walk through Thamel district, shop, and explore. Overnight in Kathmandu hotel.
Day 2/October 25 | Cultural Day in Kathmandu Valley
Fresh local, mostly vegetarian breakfast and Opening Circle. A full day of sightseeing around ancient UNESCO religious and cultural sites in Kathmandu: Swayambhunath Temple, with stunning views of the city, Boudhanath Stupa, the greatest Tibetan Buddhist stupa in the world and Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples, with cremation vats alongside the river. Our Nepali local guide will escort us on this tour of these important and historic Kathmandu Buddhist and Hindu temples and shrines that so beautifully reflect the local traditions. Lunch at Boudhanath village. Trekking permits will be finalized on this day in preparation for our trekking departure the following day. In the evening, enjoy a delicious traditional Nepali dinner and Nepali cultural show. Candlelight rooftop meditation for those interested. Overnight in Kathmandu hotel.
Day 3/October 26 | Kathmandu to Pokhara
Rooftop yoga and breakfast. Drive 7 hours scenic drive to Pokhara, our trek starting point and we will get local lunch along the road. Dinner and overnight in Pokhara hotel. Rooftop meditation under the stars.
Day 4/October 27 | Begin Trek: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (5,003 ft./1,525 m.) | Estimated trekking time: 4.5 hours
Sunrise yoga and breakfast. Drive for 1.5 hours to Nayapul and commence our trek to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town beside the Modi River. Local trekker lunch on the trail. We head up the main trail to Sudami where we climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hille (4,904 ft./1,495 m.) before pushing on to Tikhedhunga. Evening yoga/meditation under the stars.
Day 5/October 28 | Trek to Ghorepani (9,022 ft./2,750 m.) | Estimated trekking time: 5.5 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast. Enjoy a pleasant day walking, trekking through rhododendron and oak forests and across the Bhurungdi Khola stream before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti (8070 ft./2,460 m.). After local trekker lunch in Nangethanti, we head up to Ghorepani and enjoy jaw-dropping views of the stunning and snowy Dhualagiri, the world's 7th highest mountain, standing at 8,167m. Overnight in trekker tea house/guesthouse with shower facilities. The temperature here begins to drop significantly, be prepared to bundle up! Evening candlelight meditation under the stars or in a room, temperature dependent.
Day 6/October 29 | Ghorepani to Poon Hill for sunrise and onto Tadapani (8,267 ft./2,520 m.) | Estimated trekking time: 6 hours
After an early start at around 5am we will ascend to Poon Hill (10,531 ft./3,210 m.). This is a steep climb, but not too hard. It will take us about 1 hour and leads us to a brilliant viewpoint, providing an unobstructed sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending about 40 minutes on the hillside and enjoying a warm cup of coffee or tea, we come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and start walking to Tadapani. From Ghorepani the trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (9,711 ft./2,960 m.). Local lunch on the trail. Next we descend to reach Banthanti, before winding our way down to Tadapani. Overnight in trekker tea house guesthouse with shower facilities. Evening candlelight meditation.
Day 7/October 30 | Tadapani to Chhomrong (7,250 ft/2,210 m) | Estimated trekking time: 5 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast. We begin the day by dropping down from Tadapani Gurjung the route offers views of the upper Modi Valley. The path then starts the long ascent high above the west bank of the Modi Khola. Local lunch on the trail. We then arrive in the village of Chhomrong, which lies tucked at the very base of Himal Chuli. Chhomrong is the last permanent settlement in the valley. The vertical view of Machapuchare from your guesthouse here will blow your mind! Overnight in trekker tea house/guesthouse with shower facilities. Evening candlelight meditation under the stars or in a room, temperature dependent.
Day 8/October 31 | Chhomrong to Doban (8,333 ft/2,540 m) | Estimated trekking time: 6 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast. From Chhomrong we follow the trail as it descends to Chhomrong Khola, then the trail begins a slow climb as we head up to our first destination – Sinuwa. We then proceed to Kuldi Ghar (8,103 ft./2,470m) about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs walking. The trek now enters the upper Modi Khola valley. Local lunch on the trail.We continue our trek going down to Bamboo through an uninhabited forest area, scattered with big rocks. From Bamboo the road will take us through bamboo and rhododendron forests to Doban. Overnight in trekker tea house/guesthouse with showers. Evening candlelight meditation.
Day 9/November 1 | Doban to Deurali (10,400 ft./3,170 m.) | Estimated trekking time: 5.5 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast. After climbing 1,000 ft, or 300 m., we will first pass the Himalayan Hotel at 9,317 ft./2,840 m. We then continue on to Hinko Cave (10,170 ft./3,100 m.) and then onto Deurali. Local lunch on the trail. Here we will also have great views of mind-blowing Machhapuchhre mountain and you will understand why the translation of its name means 'fishtail mountain. Our Deurali guesthouse is sandwiched in between the massive Himalayas, and we will stay here for the night to get warm and rest. Evening candlelight meditation.
Day 10/November 2 | Deurali to Annapurna Base camp (13,451 ft./4,100 m.) | Estimated trekking time: 5.5 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast.Today we climb on past the Machhapuchhre Base Camp to the Annapurna Base Camp!! This area is called the Annapurna Sanctuary since it is totally surrounded by mountains. Just wait until you experience being completely surrounded by towering snow-capped 20,000+ foot Himalayan massifs. Local lunch on the trail in Machapuchare Base Camp. From here it is a mostly flat, gradual uphill two-hour trek to Annapurna Base camp (ABC), past icy streams and boulders. Once you arrive at basecamp, it is very exciting and everyone celebrates. YOU MADE IT!! Overnight in ABC trekker tea house/guesthouse with shower facilities. Spend time walking around ABC and staring at the enormous mountains. Enjoy an evening sunset around 6pm lighting up the range above the clouds, making you feel as though you are on a different planet. It is a truly miraculous sight to see, on top of the world. Temperatures drop significantly here to below freezing. Be prepared. Evening candlelight meditation under the stars or in a room, temperature dependent.
Day 11/November 3 | Descent from Annapurna Base Camp to Sinuwa | Estimated trekking time: 5 hours
Chilly sunrise yoga during a captivating mountain sunrise illuminating the mountain peaks on top of the world and local breakfast. Today we descend from Annapurna Base Camp to Sinuwa. Enjoy a beautiful walk down and say goodbye to the mountains. Local lunch on the trail. Overnight in trekker tea house/guesthouse with shower facilities. Evening candlelight meditation under the stars.
Day 12/November 4 | Sinuwa to Jhinu Hot Springs Estimated trekking time: 4.5 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast. From Sinuwa we continue to Chhomrong from where the trail descends through forests to Jhinu. Temperatures warm up today and again we can finally shed the cold weather clothing. Our early arrival means we have the afternoon hours free for a much-needed soak in the stunning riverside hot springs! After arrival in our Jhinu guesthouse, we enjoy a relaxing lunch before heading down about 20 minutes to the Hot Springs! Bikinis allowed! Dinner at the guesthouse, followed by candlelight meditation under the stars.
Day 13/November 5 | Trek to Birethanti, Nayapul; Drive to Pokhara (3,000 ft./910 m.) | Estimated trekking time: 4 hours
Sunrise yoga and local breakfast. From Jhinu it's easy walking, all down hill, to Nayapul where our trekking ends (4 hrs). Hooray!!! Lunch on arrival. Our private transport will drive us to Pokhara, about an hour and a half away. Dinner, dancing, cultural show, and night out in town to celebrate. Overnight in Pokhara hotel.
Day 14/November 6 | Drive Pokhara to Kathmandu
Rooftop Yoga and breakfast. Set out early for 7 hour drive back to Kathmandu. Lunch along the road. Free half day for last minute shopping. Dinner and night out in Kathmandu! Overnight in Kathmandu hotel.
Day 15/November 7 | International Departures from Kathmandu (KTM)
Final rooftop yoga session and breakfast at hotel. Closing circle. Optional flight over Mt. Everest departs at 6am. Participants are back at hotel in time for breakfast and international flights. (Price for this Everest flight add-on is $230, please see below for more information) Transfers to airport. Departure from Kathmandu.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR THIS TRIP
- SPACE: For our trekking trips, space is limited. Please reserve your spot early to ensure adequate space. For parties of 3 or more, please contact us for discounts. Space is open until filled.
- ACCOMMODATIONS: Basic twin or even triple or quadruple dorm style shares with team members in high mountain trekker lodges where accommodations are very limited for trekkers. These are always fun international hostels for all ages of hardcore trekkers. Proper accommodations available in cities.
- DIET: All diets accommodated. Mostly the diet is a vegetarian local Nepali dhal bat, Tibetan noodles or rice, and soups.
- FITNESS: A certain level of physical fitness is required for this adventure. We will be trekking high altitudes for 10 days. Sherpas and porters WILL be available to help carry up to 20lbs of your daily weight, so you will NOT be carrying your own pack unless you so choose.
- WEATHER: We will be climbing through many different environmental zones and temperatures. You will need layers. While ascending, it can get very cold and temperatures can drop to 10-15F, or 0C, and there are no heaters for warmth. This is the Himalayan life. Be prepared so you can have fun in the cold! Believe us the view and experience is well worth it!
- FLIGHTS: International airfare should be purchased into KTM. Arrivals should be scheduled for anytime on October 24th, and departures for anytime after noon on November 7th.
Optional Add On Adventures to This Retreat . . .
1) Mountain flight over Mt. Everest, $230. Early morning of November 15th, 2 hour flight
2) Volunteer placement: If any team members on this retreat would like to extend their stay in Nepal after the retreat ends to do humanitarian work in the village that we support, Enlightened Globetrekker will place you in the village, for a time period of 1-4 weeks. Accommodations are provided at our volunteer hotel (at your cost of $10/night, meals are $2/meal). Positions needed in the village that we sponsor are: teaching English, helping in the fields, helping to reconstruct homes lost in the earthquakes, and working on sustainable village agro-forestry and earth bag home building projects.
